Ainoa Castro Correa

Principal Investigator

BA in Geography and History by the UNED, PhD in Sciences and Techniques of Study and Conservation of Bibliographic and Documentary Heritage by the UAB, License in Mediaeval Studies by the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies. Lecturer in Manuscript Studies at the University of Salamanca, after having been Marie Curie Research Fellow at King’s College London, Virginia Brown Fellow in Latin Palaeography at the Ohio State University, Astrik L. Gabriel Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana) and Andrew W. Mellon at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies (Toronto). She has authored several books and articles and curates a well-known site www.LitteraVisigothica.com, an online research portal on Iberian peninsular Manuscript Studies focused on Visigothic script.

Francisco Álvarez López

Senior Postdoctoral Researcher

Former graduate from the Universidade de Vigo. He completed an MA and a PhD in Early Medieval Palaeography at the University of Manchester, before joining InScribe: Palaeography Learning Materials at the School of Advanced Study, University of London and The Conqueror’s Commissioners: Unlocking the Domesday Survey of South-West England (King’s College London). He is also an Affiliate Research Associate at Exeter Cathedral Library and Archives where he has held a Fragmentarium Fellowship 2020 to undertake the Exeter Fragments Project. He has taught at the universities of Manchester, Exeter and the London International Palaeography Summer School, and has published on a variety of topics including bilingual scribes, Benedictine scriptoria and Anglo-Iberian connections in the early Middle Ages.

Daniel Justo Sánchez

Junior Postdoctoral Researcher

Member of the research group ATAEMHIS and has developed his PhD on fellowship at the University of Salamanca, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education FPU pre-doctoral program. During that period, he stayed for three months at the University of Roma Tre. Before his PhD, he studied a BA in History and a MA in Advanced Studies and Research in History, both with distinction from the University of Salamanca. His work has focused on castles and territoriality between the ninth and twelfth centuries, using charters from the north-west of the Iberian Peninsula and GIS (Geographic Information Systems). He has authored several papers and book chapters and participated in some international scientific events. He also combines this activity with the co-direction of “Historias de Bolsillo” a radio program of historical dissemination.

Joan Beltran Todolí

Joan Beltran Todolí

PhD Student

PhD Student in Medieval History at the University of Salamanca. He previously achieved a BA in History and MA in History of the Making of the Western World at the University of València. His field of research is focused on History of Written Culture and Diplomatic in the Late Middle Ages. Currently, he is doing research on the chancery of the Crown of Aragon, as well as the political and social role that writing played in the 15th Century.

Pablo de la Pinta Rodríguez

PhD Student

PhD Student in Medieval History at the University of Salamanca. He previously achieved a BA in History and MA in Advanced Studies and Research in History at the same University. His field of research falls within the areas of Social History and Manuscript Studies, particularly Palaeography, in the chronological framework of the Early Middle Ages. Thus, the research he is carrying out is focused on studying writing and society in El Bierzo during the early medieval period.

Alejandro Pombo Rial

PhD Student

PhD Student in Medieval History at the University of Salamanca. He previously achieved a BA in History and MA in Advanced Studies and Research in History at the same University. Monasticism from its beginnings to the 12th century and the medieval priests are his main topics of study, both at European and Iberian level, with special attention to the study of its social and cultural dimension. He tries to integrate all possible disciplines and perspectives in order to obtain a comprehensive view of the phenomenon.

Javier Gómez Gómez

Research Technician

Javier Gómez Gómez was a crucial member of this project during its first year. He holds a BA in History, an MA in Advanced Studies, and Research in History (with a Major in Medieval History) and an MA in Teacher Training, all from the University of Salamanca. As postgraduate researcher, he was also a Research Technician on a project focused on the study of common lands in the Early Middle Ages.
